Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has stated that he has convinced Eric Bailly to sign for Manchester United instead of Manchester City.
Manchester United is currently managed by former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho which Drogba greatly appreciates.
Eric Bailly has revealed that he is a great friend of Didier Drogba and that the latter has suggested him to join Manchester United. He said that the former Chelsea player had told him how it is to work under Jose Mourinho and how he will develop as a player if he plays for him. Bailly said that he has chosen to play for Manchester United partly because of what Didier Drogba has told him.
Didier Drogba and Eric Bailly are both from Ivory Coast and enjoy some great friendship off the pitch. The new Manchester United player stated that Didier Drogba is a great fan of Jose Mourinho and that he is always talking about his former manager. He said that this has motivated his decision to join Manchester United.
He has also revealed that he has been approached by Manchester City’s manager Pep Guardiola. He admitted that he has not talked with the manager directly, but it is an assistant manager that called him. He said that Yaya Toure has also tried to convince him to play for Manchester City, but he had already made up his mind to play for Mourinho after he has talked with the Portuguese manager.
Didier Drogba said that Eric Bailly is a great defender and that he will surely improve Manchester United at the back. He said that he would develop and become a great player under Jose Mourinho. Drogba is backing Jose Mourinho to be a success at Manchester United and believe that the club will be champion under him.
